Sphereing and Zorbing Info
Sphering is one of the newest extreme sports to arrive in the UK. The concept started in
New Zealand as zorbing with the invention of the Zorb® ball. That was franchised internationally, including a couple of sites in the UK. Then sphereing
was developed as a competitor to zorbing. There's only a couple of places where you can go zorbing in the UK, but lots of sphereing venues.
All the sites listed on this page offer sphereing, not zorbing.
So what is Sphering - well basically Sphering is getting into a giant sphere, much akin to an overgrown hamster
toy with another smaller sphere attached inside it. The sphere is then rolled down a long long hill and
while the outer sphere rolls downhill you are tumbled head over heels in the inner one at speeds of up to 50kph.
Undoubtedly the ride of a lifetime as you watch the ground, then the sky, then the ground...........
Hydro Sphering: is much the same as above, but no it's not done in a swimming pool, it's just that a
couple of buckets of water are added to the sphere before you start. Much like the water splash at a
theme park - only wetter. If you choose aqua sphereing don't forget to pack a change of clothes.
Sphering for Two: While the usual Sphere is about 12 feet in diameter, a larger version is available
so two of you can be strapped in together.
Sphereing locations: Perth, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Cheshire, Hertfordshire, Oxford, Wales, Midlands, Devon, Cornwall, North, North-East, South-East
